Railways to smarten up the basic infrastructure at Pune station

Railway officials here have said they plan to spend Rs 5 crore for sprucing up the Pune station in the coming financial year, an increase from Rs 1 crore allotted for 2007-08.

While Pune railway station is among the 22 stations that the Central Railway has proposed to upgrade to “world class facilities,” the planning is still to begin.

The tendering process for the flooring work on platforms 2, 3 and 6 should be over in three months.

The flooring on platforms 1, 7 and 4, 5 will also be completed.

Retiring rooms and toilets will be improved.
