E-waste collection from ward offices twice a month; Pune Municipal Corporation considering own disposal plant

Thanks to the rapid growth of electronic as well as information technology industry, Pune ranks among 10 top cities in the country when it comes to e-waste. It is estimated that the city generates 2,500 metric tonnes of e-waste annually.

"The public will soon be asked to drop the e-waste at the ward offices where bins would be kept for collection. The PMC would lift the e-waste twice a month for their disposal at the recycling plant," said Suresh Jagtap, deputy municipal commissioner, Solid Waste Management.

Pune gets manmade nature park
